Memory Manager is an easy-to-use software program that helps you organize, categorize, personalize, and edit your photos like a professional, without having to be one. The software is a one-of-a-kind tool specially created for scrapbookers or photo enthusiasts. Memory Manager software is available to purchase, either by ordering the CD or as a download.
Creative Memories stopped supporting Memory Manager 2.0 on December 31, 2010.
The term metadata literally means “data about data”. Your photos are considered “data”, so metadata about your photos is simply information that further describes your photos. This can include the image resolution, camera make/model, shutter speed, etc. Now when you add a photo to a folder, give it a star rating, or change the date or time it was taken, Memory Manager 3.0 automatically saves this information to the metadata attached to your photo.
Once you purchase and install the Memory Manager 3.0 upgrade, you have the license you purchased for Memory Manager 2.0, and you will not be able to reinstall version 2.0 on any other computer using your Memory Manager 2.0 serial number.
Yes, you may. But once you have opened your memory vault in 3.0, the software will automatically upgrade the vault, and you will no longer be able to access it from the 2.0 version.
Memory Manager 3.0 has increased functionality and more powerful editing tools than ever before. Memory Manager has always brought you features especially designed for scrapbookers:
- The unique memory vault saves all of your photos in one place, rather than scattered around your computer.
- The automatic backup function ensures you always have a backup copy of all your precious photos.
- Memory Manager never overwrites your original photos - instead originals are kept and all revisions are saved separately.
- Memory Manager gives you up to 5,000 characters for journaling.
- The PrintTrack feature keeps track of which photos you’ve printed and which still need to be printed.
You will need:
- The serial number from Memory Manager 2.0 or Memory Manager 1.0, in case the software doesn’t automatically find it.
- Your new serial number from the Memory Manager 3.0 upgrade. This is located on the packaging of your CD or on the email confirmation from your download purchase.
- Your current memory vault file location. While in Memory Manager 2.0, click on Memory Vault/Manage Memory Vault, and write down the location/file path of your current vault and its name.
- It’s always a good idea to also make sure you have a current backup of your memory vault.
This software is truly incredible and a great value! Creative Memories created this software with you in mind, with increased functionality and ease of use. And we’ve priced this exceptional product less than other photo-editing software available today, because we believe it’s an invaluable tool for anyone with digital photos.
Yes. All you need is the serial number from version 1.0 and your new serial number from version 3.0. If you have not yet installed the 1.0 version, do not install it prior to your upgrade. Just enter your version 1.0 serial number when prompted. NOTE: Do not install 1.0 on Vista and then upgrade - version 1.0 is not compatible with Vista.
When you upgrade from Memory Manager 2.0 to 3.0, your memory vault remains safe! You’ll just need to open your vault once you install and launch Memory Manager 3.0.
In most cases, the Memory Manager set-up program will run when you insert the Memory Manager CD into your CD drive. If this does not happen or if you have purchased the software as a download, you will have to run the setup program manually.
The set-up program is called AUTORUN.EXE. To run this program manually, perform the following steps:
- Locate the AUTORUN.EXE file either on your CD or in the file you downloaded.
- Double-click on this file to run the set-up program.
If you purchased your software on CD, the serial number is printed on the back side of the Memory Manager package, in the lower left hand corner. If you purchased your software as a download, the serial number can be found in your order confirmation email. You must enter the serial number exactly as shown. Once you have installed Memory Manager, you can find your serial number in the About box of the software, accessible from the Help menu.
Activation is an anti-piracy technology used to verify that the software has been legitimately licensed. The activation process is simple and unobtrusive, and does not violate the user’s privacy.
Each copy of Memory Manager can be activated on only a single machine. If you need to move Memory Manager to a different computer after it has been activated, you will have to call the Memory Manager support line and have a customer service representative help you with this process.
The installation ID number contains a checksum based on information about the particular computer and operating system. It does not contain any personal or identifying information about the user or the user’s computer.
This software has a single license and can only be installed on one computer at a time.
You do not need to uninstall the 2.0 version before installing 3.0. However, once you have opened your memory vault in 3.0, the software will automatically upgrade the vault, and you will no longer be able to access it from the 2.0 version.
Your Memory Manager license allows you to have it installed to one computer at a time. Click here for instructions on moving your Memory Vault and personal settings from one computer to another.
- The software should automatically detect your vault once you’ve installed Memory Manager 3.0 and opened it. If it doesn’t, open Memory Manager and click on Open a Vault › More Vaults on My Computer and browse to the location of your vault to open it.
- Note: Once you’ve opened your memory vault in version 3.0, it will automatically be upgraded, and you will no longer be able to access it with Memory Manager 2.0.
Your folders contain images, and all folders are stored in a sort box. The combination of sort boxes and folders is provided to allow you to organize all of the images in your memory vault.
Albums provide a means of selecting and arranging images from the memory vault, along with journaling boxes, in preparation for printing and use in a physical album. In addition, albums provide an easy way to share your stories using a digital slideshow.
You will need to set up a new Shadow Copy once you upgrade.
Yes! However, once you open your Memory Manager 2.0-created memory vault in Memory Manager 3.0, you will no longer be able to access it with Memory Manager 2.0. The software will display a message box when you try to open the old vault, indicating that this is the case.
By default, the current version of Memory Manager will share images to StoryBook Creator 3.0. There are 2 ways to get your photos from Memory Manager 3.0 into a project in StoryBook Creator 4.0:
- To add the photos to a new 4.0 project:
- Select the photos in Memory Manager 3.0. Then select Copy from the drop-down arrow that appears to the right of the image when hovering over it.
- Open StoryBook Creator and start your new project. On Step 4 of creating the project, click the Add photos button and choose Paste.
- To share them to an existing 4.0 project:
- Open 4.0 and the project which you would like to share the images.
- In Memory Manager, select your photos, and then choose Add these images to a currently open StoryBook Creator project.
- Select the desired 4.0 project from the list of open projects.
You may back up your memory vault as often as you wish. The actual frequency is up to you, the user, and depends on how much risk you are willing to take in terms of losing images. Memory Manager can be configured to periodically remind you to backup your memory vault. We suggest you use the Shadow Copy backup, which will automatically backup your images every time you close the software.
Yes. When you set up your backup, just let the software know where you want the backup to be stored.

Memory Manager requires a minimum of 512 MB of RAM if you’re running Windows XP, 1 GB if you’re running Vista, or 1 GB if you’re running Windows 7.
Memory Manager and all of its required components require 1 GB of free disk space. However, to store a large number of images in the memory vault, more disk space will be required. The exact amount of space depends on the number and size of the images you wish to store.
Yes, as long as the web-based provider allows access by Memory Manager. The best way to email through most web-based email providers is to use the Print As Web Provider function, which provides the user with the export options (e.g. resizing), then puts the images in a temp folder, allowing the user to browse to the temp folder from the web-provider. The bottom line here is that the restriction is not with Memory Manager, but with the architecture of web-based email providers.
